Growing a Better Future
A Different Way to Ranch
Grass Anchor Farms was created with a bigger vision than building a single ranch. Rather than waiting for the opportunity to own a large property, Nathan set out to build a collaborative network of independent ranchers who share a commitment to regenerative and sustainable agriculture.
Working alongside established ranching families, Grass Anchor Farms brings cattle, knowledge, and resources together across multiple ranching operations. By working collaboratively, ranchers can increase the scale of their operations, make better use of available pasture, and grow their businesses without each having to take on the enormous expense and debt of acquiring additional land.
Each ranching partner brings their own experience, land, and operation to the table. Together, they work toward a shared goal: raising cattle responsibly while building a more resilient future for agriculture.
It's a model grounded in trust, shared responsibility, and an ownership mentality. Every animal deserves thoughtful care, every pasture deserves consideration, and every partnership depends on people who take pride in doing things right.
Regenerative Agriculture Starts with the Land
At Grass Anchor Farms, the long-term health of the land matters just as much as the cattle raised on it.
Regenerative ranching looks beyond short-term production and considers the relationship between livestock, grasslands, soil health, and the broader ecosystem. Through thoughtful grazing management and a commitment to working with nature, we believe ranching can be part of the solution to healthier soils, more resilient pastures, and a stronger agricultural system.
We're not interested in producing more at any cost. We're interested in producing better, while helping preserve the natural resources that future generations of ranchers will depend on.
Grass Anchor Farms was built on a lifelong dream of ranching and a belief that agriculture can do better. For the land, for the animals, for the people who care for them, and for the communities they feed.
For Nathan Daniels, that dream began at just six years old. Raised in Cranbrook, BC, he always imagined a life spent working with cattle and living the ranching lifestyle. Although his career eventually took him overseas to London and later to Vancouver, the pull toward ranching never went away.
In 2007, his wife, Karen, sent him to a week-long cowboy course in southern Alberta. Three days of natural horsemanship and three days learning low-stress cattle handling and roping helped turn a lifelong dream into something more tangible. But it was a conversation during that experience that would shape the future of Grass Anchor Farms.
Hearing about the challenges farmers faced with chemical spraying and questioning practices that had become commonplace in conventional agriculture, Nathan began looking more closely at how food was produced and how those practices affected the land. He became interested in regenerative agriculture and the idea that ranching could work with natural systems rather than rely on chemical inputs and industrial production methods.
Through further research, education, and learning from experienced grass farmers and regenerative ranchers in Canada and the United States, Nathan developed a new perspective on what it means to raise cattle. Ranchers aren't simply in the business of producing beef. They're grass farmers, caretakers of the soil, and stewards of the land.
That philosophy became the foundation of Grass Anchor Farms.
A Bigger Vision for BC Agriculture
Grass Anchor Farms is working toward a future where regenerative ranching is not the exception, but a more widely adopted way of doing business.
We believe independent ranchers should have opportunities to grow without compromising their values, and consumers should have access to high-quality beef produced with greater consideration for animal welfare and the land.
Every partnership, every pasture, and every customer helps move that vision forward.
Our hope is that, over the next 10 to 20 years, regenerative practices will become an increasingly important part of British Columbia's agricultural landscape, creating a more sustainable future for ranchers, rural communities, and the people who depend on them.
Grass Anchor Farms is more than a ranching business. It's a commitment to doing things differently, working together, and leaving the land better than we found it.
